Chinese, Greek and South American Mythology

What is a myth?

Myths are a traditional story which is usually not fictional and is usually about superhuman beings, heroes, mythical weapons or gods. Myths are made up, but people believe that they often help to explain local customs or natural phenomena. Some people get myths and legends mixed up, but there is a clear difference. A legend is very like a myth though that it is usually based on a event that actually happened or a person who was actually real.
